Now I understand and honestly that totally sucks...here's an idea...unless they file some kind of restraining order they cannot prevent you from contacting him prior to his 18th b-day so you certainly do not have to wait...and L.A. is alot closer to F.L which gives you a greater opportunity to put in a personal appearance.....

Getting settled in L.A. and finding your rhythm will give you the opportunity to focus on re-establishing a relationship with your son "in spite" of your ex-MIL..

You're right, I did kind of a logical leap there and didn't explain the thought process. Pretty soon here they are going to figure out the gig is up. I may not be able to contact him after that. And I have his home address right now, but they've already had tentative plans to move to a property out in the country and I don't have that address. With what's transpired recently, I probably won't get it. I'm not sure they would have given it to me anyway, because they'd been acting REALLY weird this year even before the latest blowup.

And if that's what happens, if they disappear for the next five years and some change, like as not they are also going to fill his head with all kinds of garbage about how I never wanted him anyway. They *already* tell people that. So that's going to make it very hard to find him after he's reached age of majority if he believes their crap.

Hence the hiring someone to find him. I still have his SSN and that's all I'd need. So you see now where I'm going with this.

It feels a little bit like showing my cards, I guess, but it really doesn't matter what they think because they'd have to break the law to prevent it happening. And, y'know, my ex's grandmother had adopted him when he was a child, and his real mom adopted him after he was an adult. I intend to do that with my son if he is at all amenable. And we are then going to do what we can do to put this nightmare behind us.

I'm not gonna deny, though, that I've got my work cut out for me. Things may not turn out well at all. Those people are capable of doing a huge mindf?!k when they put their own minds to it. And he's very vulnerable because he places a high value on family ties. It may wind up being a while before he wants to talk to me, if he ever does. I'm not sure how prepared I am for that eventuality but I'm trying to be.

btw..good-luck with the move...I returned home when my mother was ill and thankfully got to spend time with my grandmother before she died and my mother...I never regretted the decision even though at times it was difficult and I put my own career/life on hold

I'm confused...I thought you had mentioned that your son was with his paternal grandparents and that you sent things for b-day's and stuff...so why would you need to hire someone to find him? and doesn't he know your name, etc...not that you have to clarify I'm just trying to understand the reference to hiring someone to search for him.

Hello. My name is Nellie. I like your blog (gettingalife) and I wonder if you could write a post (review) about my credit card site and place it on your blog (around 150 words, 1-2 anchor). Is it possible? What is your price?
If not, tell me what kind of links you can offer. Non- site-wide links please.
PS: If you have any other good blogs, you are welcome.

I'm going to hazard a guess that site's a hoax. Some folks just love to make people angry so they can get hate mail. I don't understand it.

it's good to know or at least understand how your body responds to your eating choices....even without tracking calories..the program also tracks carbs so it could give you accurate numbers there ..I'm not a Low-carb focused person but I do keep my carbs under 100gms a day...and the program also scores the nutritional content on my choices..lol...I think I may be a bit "ocd" at times when it comes to keeping track of my eating but it seems to be the only thing that really keeps me on track....

as for the weight gain, as woman we have a "5lb" monthly flux...so you are still way below that...

Thanks for the link! I was using SparkPeople for a bit, but wasn't crazy about the obsessiveness it brought out in me. I also find that calorie-counting doesn't seem to make much sense in my situation because I tend to eat high-fat, and I tend to eat what would be a "maintenance" level of calories when I'm low-carbing, but weirdly I lose weight anyway, most of the time.

I've pretty much come to realize I'm just a walking chemistry experiment and that as long as I get the chemistry mostly right, I do well. I don't think weight loss is any different for me--it's more what I eat than how much, with the exception of keeping carb intake low.
